ICEPAC

This is the online public access catalog for all of the libraries in the North Country (over 400). The libraries include all school libraries, public libraries, community colleges and SUNY Plattsburgh. There are over 1 million records in this database and is the primary resource for finding books in the North Country.
Health Reference Library Indexes magazines dealing with health issues.  The database has over 1 million magazine articles, generally going back to 1987 and most are full text.
EBSCO Primary Search indexes over 50 magazines for K-6 students. It has a general encyclopedia and an "Encyclopedia of Animals."  

Master FILE Select provides full text access to over 770 magazines from 1990 to date.

Free Vocabulary

This site provides 5.000 SAT preparation words, with brief definitions, for individual and classroom use.

Sat Math

Prepares students for the math portion of the SAT. It offers a diagnostic test that show areas most in need of improvement, 25 tutorial sections w/interactive lessons, strategies, quiz questions, simulated tests, and online tutoring. Membership is $20 per month.

Infoplease Infoplease has up to date almanacs ( general, entertainment, and sports ), biographies, dictionaries, an encyclopedia, and an atlas. This is the place to look for statistics on population growth, a biography of Britney Spears, a map of Costa Rica, or information on Game 4 of the World Series. 
Microsoft Microsoft in education. 
It is a guide for integrating the use of laptop computers in the classroom.
Swarthmore This is a site that is full of math resources and strategies for grades K - 12.

Survival guide for new teachers
This is an online publication for newer teachers from the U.S. Dept. of Education that offers tips, anecdotes, and practical advice on a variety of topics including how to work with veteran teachers, parents, principals, and university education professionals.  The site also links to other useful resources and organizations.

This site offers a wide range of free teacher worksheets that can be used for reinforcement and review. Teachers should feel free to use and distribute these worksheets for educational purposes, so long as the copyright and footer information are left intact. PROQUEST This is an online magazine index available through a grant by the CEWW School Library System. (This is similar to the Electric Library) There are hundreds of magazines indexed from 1986 to the current week.  Most of the articles are full-text and extremely current - weekly magazines such as Newsweek and Time are input immediately.  It is fairly easy to use.

Free online spelling program that uses text-to-speech technology and phonetically correct interactive characters:  Students listen to words being used in sentences and then can type or use the site's graphic keyboard to spell the words.

An e-portfolio service allows students to post and share their work - writing, artwork, videos, etc. - via a Web-based interface:  Students can create portals that provide image galleries of student work, educator profiles and more.

Advanced WindowsCare Personal

At this ssite is a free utility that fixes Windows problems and is geared toward helping prevent users from being harmed by spyware.  The program has multi-language support and will also work with Windows Vista.
