Hi! I’m
Nancy Randall and I have been teaching at Willsboro Central for 18
years. I grew up in Pennsylvania, but
my family spent every summer in the Adirondacks at our family camp on Indian
Lake. I received a BA in Biology/Psychology
from Earlham
College
in Richmond,
Indiana. In
our travels through the Adirondacks,
Pennsylvania and Colorado, where we built a cabin for my in-laws high in the mountains, my husband
and I fell in love with Willsboro and decided to settle there.
I stayed at home with my two children, David and Anna, until they were in
school. Then I taught at Head Start in Essex for three years before
deciding to go back to school for a Masters in Education at SUNY
Plattsburgh. My first teaching job at WCS was in Kindergarten, which
I taught for 9 years before moving to second grade. I have taught
second grade for 9 years. It has been
wonderful teaching in my own community and I feel very fortunate to be working
at Willsboro
Central
School!
My husband Sherman has a small construction business. My two kids are grown
and married now. David and his
wife Beth are in Ellenburg
Center.
They just had a baby, my first grandchild,
who is a great joy for us all! Anna and her husband Rob
Painter are living in Buffalo
while he works toward his PhD in Linguistics.
Anna teaches second grade, which gives us plenty to talk
about! Our students have enjoyed sending penpal letters back and
forth. We are hoping they will be able to
move back to the mountains in the not too
distant future.
My hobbies include quilting, thanks to Gretchen Boardman and her wonderful
quilting classes! I also enjoy camping, hiking, rowing, canoeing and
visiting family, all of which we do on a regular basis at Back Log, our
camp on Indian Lake. My second graders hear a lot about Back Log,
which is accessible only by trail or boat and has no electricity.
Both at home and at camp we try to live in a manner that will preserve
this beautiful, healthy, clean Adirondack environment for generations to
come.
