Hi, my name is
Maria Evens; I live in Willsboro, having moved from Long Island, NY, at
the age of seven. My parents wanted their children raised in a safe,
friendly place with plenty of room to run. The Adirondack area has
definitely proven to be just that.
I graduated from
Willsboro Central school in 1981, attended North country Community
majoring in Human Services, and Plattsburgh State for Elementary
Education. Marriage and motherhood took precedence and I left
college to raise my family. My husband Dale and I have four children
- Justin 24, Corey 23, Brennen 22 and Brittany 20.
My desire to work
with children made my life take a u-turn, and I went from managing a
family business and delivering mail for the U.S.P.S. to substitute at my
alma mater. After many years of subbing and being the Supervisor of
the Willsboro After-School Program and town of Willsboro's director for
the Summer Youth Program, I decided to go back to Clinton community
College majoring in Human Services, and got my Teacher's Assistant
Certification.
I love working with
the children and staff at WCS, and feel like I am at my home away from
home. Speaking of home, I am excited to say that in the late summer
I will become a grandmother for the first time.
