| I
started teaching in Willsboro in 1986. This year (2007) I celebrate 20
years in Willsboro. My room in the old school was in the Mobile
Classroom. When I started I was a Resource Room teacher for students
from K-12th. I also spent several years teaching a Career
Awareness class first to a group of boys and then to a group of girls.
The boy group visited places like the car crusher, mechanics and freight
companies. The girl group chose to visit hairdressers, daycares and
Avon
ladies. Both were fun groups to work with.
Prior to coming
to Willsboro, I received my Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Special
Education at SUNY Geneseo. I spent a year teaching in
Philadelphia
,
New York
near
Fort
Drum
and
Watertown
. But, the need to earn a Master’s Degree brought me back to the area.
I attended
Plattsburgh
State
to fulfill my Master’s requirement.
Due to student
needs I became more and more of a High School teacher. At the end of the
school year I have a notebook that I’ve kept notes in about previous
students. It’s always fun to look back and remember. And, yes, I’ve
been teaching long enough that children of former students are coming
through the ranks of High School now.
