Board of Education                                                                      October 9, 2007

Meeting was called to order at 6:04pm, by Andrea Robare.

Mr. Broadwell gave a brief informational presentation regarding the Referendum vote, which is to be held on October 23, 2007.

Motion by Craig Jackson, seconded by Bruce Hale, voted and carried (5-0) to approve the minutes from the regular meeting on 9-25-07.

Motion by Craig Jackson, seconded by Scott Sayward, voted and carried (5-0) to approve the 2008 senior class trip to Cancun , Mexico .

Motion by Scott Sayward, seconded by Phyllis Klein, voted and carried (5-0) to table the approval of the chaperones until further discussion in executive session.  

Motion by Bruce Hale, seconded by Phyllis Klein, voted and carried (5-0) to receive and accept the 2007 external audit report as prepared and presented by district’s auditor Barbara Dwyer.

Motion by Scott Sayward, seconded by Phyllis Klein, voted and carried (5-0) to approve a budget transfer of $5,000.00 from instructional salary to contractual within the budget category of Programs for Students with Disabilities.  This will be the final adjustment to match the final BOCES billing for the 2006-07 school year.  

Motion by Phyllis Klein, seconded by Scott Sayward, voted and carried (5-0) to approve the “Smoking on School Premises” revised policy # 5310.

Motion by Bruce Hale, seconded by Scott Sayward, voted and carried (5-0) to approve that Willsboro Central School participate in the Operation Child Safe Card program through the Essex County Sheriff’s Department.

The board had a brief discussion to follow-up on the presentation given by Mac MacDevitt of The Prevention Team on 9-25-07.  Mr. MacDevitt would like to give the school added information and help educate our youth and adults on the increasing problem of underage drinking.

Motion by Craig Jackson, seconded by Scott Sayward, voted and carried (5-0) to enter into executive session at 6:33pm to discuss personnel.

Motion by Scott Sayward, seconded by Craig Jackson, voted and carried (5-0) to end executive session at 7:10pm.

Motion by Scott Sayward, seconded by Bruce Hale, voted and carried (5-0) to approve the chaperones for the senior class trip to Cancun , Mexico as follows:

·         Gail MacDougal

·         John & Lorilee Sheehan

·         Rick Cross & Gail Bridge

·         Melissa Gough

Motion by Phyllis Klein, seconded by Scott Sayward, voted and carried (5-0) to adjourn the meeting at 7:12pm.
